Oh my! I've managed to go off on one today.

This morning I woke up and as I lay in bed looking at twitter on my iphone i read tweets from others in which they kept referring to themselves and each other as transsexual. Don't ask me why but it upset me!

It suddenly made me think:

I posted this comment earlier today in an online transgender forum. I am so fed up with all the bickering and back room discussions about how we as a group in society are politically put down and then these little private discussions inevitably end up in nothing.

I read on a forum the following statement:

"Being trans is the most important thing in my life."

And it got me thinking... not that I want to take any of the author's words out of context but I was drawn particularly to the above statement and wondered what they meant by it exactly?

I've just discovered the statistic that 143 GRS operations took place in the UK on the NHS in 2009 with estimations for those going abroad taking the figure up to approximately 400.

These figures indicate a very tiny fraction of the UK population to be transsexual or trans to the point of full post-op transition. Then there are the hundreds if not ( Read more... )

I am a trans-woman who is still "married" to my female partner (yes, we married before my transition when I was perceived AND I too perceived myself to be male). We have no desire to divorce and then have a same sex civil partnership in order to maintain the same rights we enjoy as a married couple.
